Calendar depiction

The display places the Mesoamerican and Balinese cycle sets side by side. Both use the same Gregorian input and Julian Day calculation. The Maya wheel preserves the original Tzolk'in and Haab' SVG glyph system; the Balinese wheel adds schematic Pawukon line drawings for wuku, Saptawara, Pancawara, and Triwara without pretending these are manuscript glyphs.

Balinese Pawukon drawings are schematic cycle tokens, not claimed manuscript glyphs or ritual icons. Use all drawings as visual aids alongside the listed sources.

This catalog is the explicit Balinese scaffold attached to the Pawukon wheel: all thirty wuku are rendered as individual line-art tokens and the active wuku is highlighted from the current Gregorian conversion.

Sources & computation notes

This tool uses deterministic calendar arithmetic to show Mesoamerican and Balinese calendrical cycles from the same Gregorian input. The notes below document the computational assumptions, visual boundaries, and source cautions used by the converter.

Computational basis

  • Default GMT correlation constant: 584283.
  • Optional alternative constants are available for comparison with warnings.
  • Long Count total days: Julian Day Number minus selected correlation.
  • Known validation anchor: 2012-12-21 CE -> 13.0.0.0.0, 4 Ajaw, 3 K'ank'in, G9.
  • Balinese Pawukon comparison: 210-day unnumbered cycle, with JDN 146 used as a reproducible computational anchor following Dershowitz and Reingold.

FAMSI reference

FAMSI's Date Conversion tool is treated as the comparative reference for GMT-style conversion. The local quick-check mode validates fixed anchors rather than scraping FAMSI at runtime, preserving reliability during classroom, field, or offline review.

Balinese Pawukon module

The Pawukon visualizer emphasizes wuku plus the 3-, 5-, and 7-day cycles because these are the clearest comparative rings. Other Pawukon cycles exist; they are not reduced here to invented iconography or unsupported ritual meanings.

Academic caution

Calendar conversion is arithmetic; cultural interpretation of day names, ritual associations, glyph variants, regional usage, G-series night-lord identifications, and Balinese ceremonial meanings requires careful source-specific scholarship. This tool should be treated as a converter and visualizer, not as an authority on all Maya or Balinese calendrical practice.
