From material signal to contextual interpretation

The laboratory is planned around portable and benchtop analytical workflows that preserve context and make uncertainty visible. Initial emphasis is on XRF-supported characterization, comparative reference datasets, documentation, and carefully scoped provenance questions.

XRF screening

Non-destructive or minimally invasive elemental screening where instrument and sample geometry permit.

Archaeological materials

Obsidian, ceramics, pigments, metals, geological specimens, and conservation questions.

Comparative datasets

Reference-source comparison, uncertainty-aware visualization, and reproducible data records.

Research reporting

Methods, calibration notes, spectra or tabular results, limitations, and interpretive boundaries.
